Methodology
Safaricom M-Pesa tariffs are structured into tiered transaction bands regulated by the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK). Sending money between registered M-Pesa users is 100% free for transactions up to KES 100, graduated from KES 7 (for KES 101–500) up to KES 108 for transactions up to KES 250,000. Cash withdrawals at authorized M-Pesa agents range from KES 11 for small sums up to KES 309 for KES 250,000. Reverse calculations compute the exact additional funds to send so the recipient can withdraw their exact required net cash.
